What is A.I.R.E. and who must register?
A.I.R.E. is the mandatory registry for Italian citizens living abroad for more than 12 months. It allows access to consular services and the right to vote from abroad. Registration must be done at the consulate within 90 days of arriving in the new country. There are exceptions, and penalties for non-registration.
