Whether the reason is to travel for tourism or business purposes, non-EU citizens who are not citizens of a Visa-exempted country, even for short-term stays, must, before travelling, apply at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the foreign country of residence for a short-term Schengen visa (C).
The visa obtained will grant the holder the right to stay in Italy for a period of time which will be in any case not longer than 90 days over 180 days and, being a uniform Schengen visa, it will also allow the holder to travel and stay in other Schengen States during the validity of the visa.
