Before the initial 24-month period ends, the authorities must send a notice to the applicant, indicating the reference number K10/C/XXXXX, informing them that the timeframe for completing the administrative procedure for granting Italian citizenship has been extended by another 12 months.
Receiving this extension notice means that the competent authorities will have more time to complete the necessary procedures and make a decision.
Currently, the law does not require the authorities to justify the extension of the period. Their only obligation is to notify the applicant that the decision period has been extended.
