The EU Council gives final approval to the platform for talent seeking employment

The European platform will help companies find skilled non-EU workers and is expected to become operational by 2027

Following the final approval of the regulation, it will now be up to the European Commission to develop the platform in concrete terms. Full operation is expected by 2027

The Council of the European Union has given its final approval to the regulation establishing the new European Talent Pool, a digital platform designed to connect European employers with candidates from non-EU countries.

The initiative aims to address the growing labor shortages recorded in many sectors of the European economy. Through this tool, companies in member states will be able to more easily identify qualified workers living outside the Union by matching job offers with available professional profiles.

The new platform will be aimed at citizens of third countries who possess the skills required by the European labor market. In addition to facilitating the meeting of supply and demand, the system will provide detailed information about the entire recruitment process, explaining to candidates what steps they will need to go through and what rights they will be able to exercise.

Particular attention will be devoted to worker protection. The portal will contain clear information on the principles of fair recruitment, decent working conditions, and the mechanisms designed to prevent abuse and exploitation.

This new tool has been conceived with the intention of easing pressure on the European labor market and strengthening the competitiveness of businesses. Companies, in fact, will have simpler and faster access to professionals with the necessary skills.

However, any recruitment carried out through the platform will not replace the national procedures established by individual member states. Non-EU candidates who receive a job offer will still have to apply for the necessary authorizations, visas and residence permits in accordance with the rules in force in the country concerned (for example, they will have to begin the procedure to obtain an EU Blue Card). The platform will also provide practical information on these procedures and on the requirements that must be met.

Participation in the system will remain voluntary for member states, which will be free to decide whether or not to take part in the initiative.

Following the final approval of the regulation, it will now be up to the European Commission to develop the platform in concrete terms. Full operation is expected by 2027.
