How to request information and updates on the status of Italian citizenship procedures

In order to facilitate the information of citizens interested in obtaining updates on the status of their applications for acquiring Italian citizenship by marriage or residence in Italy, the Ministry of the Interior has activated several communication channels, available according to specific days and modalities.

Servicio Polo Orienta

The Polo Orienta contact center has been active since February 2024, dedicated exclusively to providing support in the procedures for acquiring Italian citizenship by marriage or residence in Italian territory.

The service is available on the following days and times:

• Monday to Thursday, from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Anyone wishing to use the service must have with them:

1. the case identification number (K10 in the case of citizenship by residence or K10C in the case of citizenship by marriage)
2. a valid identity document

Direct contacts for information

Since October 21, 2020, additional telephone numbers are active for clarifications regarding citizenship procedures. Interested parties can call:

• 06/46539955 Wednesdays from 10:00 to 12:00
• 3316536673 Fridays from 10:00 to 12:00

Alternatively, it is possible to send a communication to the Central Directorate for Civil Rights, Citizenship and Minorities via PEC (certified e-mail) to the specific addresses of each Prefecture present in Italian territory: for example, to send a communication to the Citizenship Office of the Prefecture of Milan the address to be used will be comunica.cittadinanza.pref e @pec.interno.it .

Rules for communications and PEC

In order to facilitate the processing of applications, it is essential to indicate in the subject of the email the file identification number (K10/K10C as appropriate) followed by the surname and first name of the applicant. These provisions apply both to communications addressed to the Ministry of the Interior and to those addressed to individual prefectures.

The possibility has also recently been offered - and the Ministry of the Interior strongly recommends proceeding in this direction - to indicate a PEC address at which to receive communications relating to applications for the acquisition of Italian citizenship, in order to facilitate and speed up processing. During the first days of December 2024, many applicants received a communication via the Ali Cittadinanza Portal inviting them to proceed in this way.
